RIVER FLOW YOGA
GRAY NOLAN
Gray is the founder of River Flow Yoga, and a qualified teacher with British Wheel of Yoga and a practitioner in the field of the senses. He has been teaching yoga since 2006, his style is relaxed, accessible and warm with a focus on compassion and inclusivity. As well as a yoga teacher Gray is a massage therapist and a tactile sign language specialist, having worked with people who are Deafblind most of his adult life. He now calls Hay-on-Wye home, where he lives with his husband and three dogs.
The river, mountains and local landscape in Mid Wales have had a profound effect on his yoga and this is evident through his practices.
Gray teaches from a place of integrity and passion for the accessibility of yoga – he has developed many yoga therapy courses and written teacher training modules on a variety of different subjects.
As well as being deeply laid back and relaxed – Gray also enjoys a good laugh – be prepared to share this phenomenon throughout classes and retreats!
Gray’s teaching style is open to all being a signer and specialist in the field of disabilities.
He believes that yoga classes should be accessible and open to all shapes and abilities, including hidden disabilities such as neuro-divergence and mental health issues. Gray also holds an MSc in Communication and Congenital Deafblind-ness; where his thesis focused on teaching social care staff mindfulness techniques, in order to become better communication partners with people who are deafblind. As part of that study he focused on the relationship between the mind and our senses, most importantly touch, qualifying at the time as a Thai Yoga Massage Therapist.
