Access Information

We strive to make our retreats as welcoming as possible, and have worked with diverse groups of people including those with access issues.

Alongside our open attitude and experience as owners with our own access needs (we’re both neurodivergent) we need to be clear that our premises can be problematic when it comes to full accessibility, mainly due to the nature of our historic building and rural location. We will however, always strive to solve accessibility issues based on a person by person focused approach. Our struggles in the past have been that our actual accommodation at the chapel (built in 1866) has a slate / gravel pathway with stepping slabs which are not easy to navigate in a wheelchair or mobility scooter, the chapel itself also has a couple of steps to enter the main building. On the plus side we have a ground-floor bedroom, and bathroom, although this is usually sold as a shared accommodation.

In terms of activities taking place, the village hall is ground floor and has good access for wheelchairs. Gray, our main yoga teacher is one of the pioneers of chair yoga and has been teaching yoga to people with varying access issues and disabilities for as long as he has been a teacher.

We do a huge amount of our activities within the landscape of mid wales and this can also present access issues. Forests, river side walks and mountain lakes can often only be accessed through styles and terrain that can be unfriendly to wheelchair users. Again it’s always worth a discussion about the retreat program to see whether alternatives may be possible or if substitution activities may be offered.

Our lead teacher, Gray, has a background in working with different communities within the social care field, including deafblind children and adults, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. Gray has BSL level 2 and has deafblind manuel level 4. If you have any specific needs or questions, please feel free to get in touch—we’d love to help where we can and will do our best to try and work with you to find a solution if possible.
